Cathay World Elite Mastercard® TERMS AND CONDITIONS (“CREDIT REWARDS TERMS”) By applying for and opening a Cathay World Elite Mastercard (the “Cathay Mastercard”), you hereby agree to be bound by these Credit Rewards Terms. In addition, you acknowledge you have previously enrolled in the Cathay Pacific Airways Limited (“Cathay”) membership program (the “Rewards Program”), or if you have not, you agree to be enrolled in the Rewards Program, and to be bound by the Rewards Program Terms and Conditions (“Rewards Program Terms”), which are available at https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_US/legal-and-privacy/cathay-membership-terms-and-conditions.html?switch=Y. Make Purchases with your Cathay Mastercard and Earn Asia Miles When you make an eligible net purchase (eligible purchases minus credits, returns and adjustments) (“Eligible Purchase”) with your Cathay Mastercard, you will automatically earn Asia Miles in your Rewards Program account if your Cathay Mastercard account is open and in good standing both at the time you make an Eligible Purchase and at the end of your billing cycle during which you made an Eligible Purchase. Asia Miles earned for an Eligible Purchase will be calculated at the end of the billing cycle in which the Eligible Purchase was posted to your Cathay Mastercard account and will appear in your Rewards Program account within 60 days provided your Rewards Program account is active. Eligible Purchases do not include balance transfers, cash advances, finance charges and fees associated with your credit card. Earning Asia Miles - Cathay and HK Express Purchases When you use your Cathay Mastercard for Eligible Purchases purchased directly from either Cathay or Hong Kong Express Airways Limited (“HK Express”), on their official website or mobile app, you will earn 3 Asia Miles for every U.S. dollar spent, rounded to the nearest Asia Mile.
- Dining Purchases When you use your Cathay Mastercard for Eligible Purchases made at dining establishments and dining delivery services you will earn 2 Asia Miles for every U.S. dollar spent rounded to the nearest Asia Mile. Eligible Purchases made at dining establishments including eligible dining delivery services will be determined by the merchant category code (the “MCC”). An MCC is a four-digit classification code that is assigned to a merchant by the merchant’s payment card network or merchant processor based on the predominant business activity of the merchant. The merchant’s MCC will determine whether an Eligible Purchase qualifies for the 2 Asia Miles reward. For example, a dining purchase at the café area of a grocery store may have an MCC identification as a type of merchant other than a dining establishment and therefore would not qualify as a dining purchase under these Credit Rewards Terms. Neither Cathay, Asia Miles Limited (“AML”), HK Express nor Synchrony Bank assigns or has responsibility for the assignment of MCCs or evaluates what MCC should be assigned to a particular merchant. Neither Cathay, AML, HK Express nor Synchrony Bank is responsible for awarding Asia Miles for Eligible Purchases made at merchants that do not accurately report transactions using the MCC described above.
- All Other Purchases When you use your Cathay Mastercard for Eligible Purchases made everywhere else Mastercard is accepted, you will earn 1 Asia Mile for every U.S. dollar spent, rounded to the nearest Asia Mile.
Redeem Your Asia Miles All Asia Miles earned with your Cathay Mastercard and credited to your Rewards Program account can only be redeemed in accordance with the Rewards Program Terms through your Rewards Program account by visiting www.cathaypacific.com. Your Cathay Mastercard account must be open and in good standing when your Asia Miles are calculated at the end of the billing cycle during which you made an Eligible Purchase. If your account is not in good standing at that time, any Asia Miles earned will not be posted to your Rewards Program account until your Cathay Mastercard account is brought back into good standing status. If your Cathay Mastercard account is closed for any reason before your Asia Miles are calculated or credited to your Rewards Program account, you will forfeit all Asia Miles you may have earned that had not yet been credited to your Rewards Program account. Asia Miles earned will not expire as long as you earn or redeem Asia Miles on your Rewards Program account at least once every eighteen (18) months. Additional Card Account Benefits - 10% Redemption Discount on Hotel, Car Rental and Experience Awards
Applies to redemptions made at travel.asiamiles.com. Members must log in using the Cathay membership number linked to their Cathay Mastercard and full payment must be made with the card. The number of Asia Miles required to make a purchase using this redemption transaction will be reduced by 10%. - 10% Discount on “Gift Miles” and “Miles Transfer” Transactions
Applies only to “Gift Miles” and “Miles Transfer” transactions completed online through www.cathaypacific.com. Members must log in using the Cathay membership number linked to their Cathay Mastercard. Full payment for “Gift Miles” and “Miles Transfer” must be made on the Cathay Mastercard. Cathay Mastercard holders can enjoy a 10% discount on fees for any of these redemption transactions. Purchases subject to credit approval. - Priority check-in
Primary cardholders may check in at our Premium Economy class airport check-in counters. Alternatively, they can use our bag-drop counters. Travel companion(s) can also enjoy this benefit when travelling with the Primary cardholder. This benefit does not extend to the Business class or First class check-in counters. - Priority boarding
Primary cardholders can enjoy the same boarding line for Premium Economy class passengers on flights operated by Cathay. Alternatively, you may join the boarding line for Economy class passengers if Premium Economy class is not available. Primary cardholders must present their Cathay Mastercard when they board. This benefit is not extended to travel companion(s). - Cathay Business class lounge access redemption
Primary cardholders may use their Asia Miles to redeem access to Business class lounges. - Status Points
In each monthly billing cycle the primary cardholder will earn 10 Status Points for every US$5,000 in Eligible Purchases made in such month that are posted to your Cathay Mastercard account, up to a maximum of 100 Status Points per calendar year which resets on January 1st of each calendar year. Eligible Purchases made in any month that are less than US$5,000 will not carry over into any subsequent months and will not be eligible to earn Status Points. Status Points will be available in your Rewards Program account within 6 months after the month in which you earned such Status Points. - Other Conditions
The Rewards Program is managed and operated by AML. AML is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay. AML reserves the right to cancel, modify, restrict, waive or terminate the Rewards Program or any aspects or features of the Rewards Program, and AML and Synchrony Bank reserve the right to cancel, modify, restrict, waive or terminate any aspects or features of these Credit Rewards Terms (including, without limitation, the number of Asia Miles earned for each U.S. dollar in Eligible Purchases made with your Cathay Mastercard), at any time and without prior notice. AML also reserves the right to remove any participant from the Rewards Program in the event of any fraud, abuse or misconduct in connection with the Rewards Program. Asia Miles accumulated under the Rewards Program are transferable to other Cathay members for a fee once they are credited to your Rewards Program account. Asia Miles accumulated under the Rewards Program are not redeemable for cash and may not be used for gift-giving purposes. You acknowledge that the Asia Miles earned under the Rewards Program and under these Credit Rewards Terms have no value and that the Asia Miles are purely promotional and are provided without the payment of any consideration or other thing of value. Unless and until Asia Miles are redeemed in accordance with these Credit Rewards Terms and the Rewards Program Terms, you have no right, title or interest in the Asia Miles. If your Cathay Mastercard is closed, only the Rewards Program Terms will apply to your Rewards Program account and not these Credit Rewards Terms. If your Rewards Program account is closed for any reason, you will no longer accumulate Asia Miles with your Cathay Mastercard. Your Rewards Program membership account must be connected to your Cathay Mastercard account in order to accumulate and redeem the Asia Miles earned with your Cathay Mastercard. Please contact Synchrony Bank at 1-866-273-9028 if you are not earning Asia Miles with your Cathay Mastercard. In the event of any conflict between these Credit Rewards Terms and the Rewards Program Terms, the Rewards Program Terms will control.
